Making the decision to change your heart for Jesus is a beautiful experience that should light a fire within you to acquire more wisdom (knowledge of God). Your spirit-man will glow for the world to see— literally.

But in this newness, be aware of lurking danger. Your light will attract not only broken people who are where you once were, but also alert those on the hunt for fresh prey.

There are many verses in scripture that warn of these predators that come in different forms— I will share some for reference. But the most assured way of protecting yourself from the enemy is learning the word of God.

Don’t settle for someone else’s perspective or idea of what the Bible says. READ IT FOR YOURSELF. The entire book, cover to cover. Yes, some say you should start with the gospels for understanding, and perhaps go in a methodical combination of books for maximum growth and understanding.

Pray!!! And ask God how you should read the book for yourself. Regardless of the reading plan, the most important thing you can do while freshly committed to Jesus is read the whole Bible. Study like it was the only class left between you and graduation. Read, take notes, highlight and use other versions for reference. Be a student of God’s word and pray for understanding as you go!

Again I will say— read the WHOLE book and learn what it says. You know, the parts before and after the certain verses most people want to teach from or debate with you about. Learn context, then you will be ready for whatever comes your way.

Beware of the false prophets, which come in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruit Matthew 7:15-20 KJV

Satan masquerades as an angel of light and his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness 2 Corinthians 11:14

Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.” Philippians 3:2 KJV

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:1-4 KJV

“Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 AMP
