“Rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn.” Romans 12:15

Happy mother’s day! It’s that time of the year again where we remember the parental influences in our lives and honor them for the love and impact they’ve contributed. Some of us have even become mothers ourselves and look forward to this day for recognition and rest.

Lately, I have had less of a desire to celebrate this day outside of reminding my mother that she is loved and appreciated. I can admit to taking my mother for granted at times. Just the simple ability of being able to talk to her when I want and receive her ready love and compliments that hug my soul.

You only get one mother, which is why I can’t help but to think of all my neighbors who are no longer able to call up their mom and shower her with appreciation and gifts. All they can send out is tears, grief and prayers to God asking why did their mom have to leave this world so soon.

So if you have your mom here on this earth today, do not hesitate to show her gratitude and love, despite her mistakes or issues. Don’t forget those around you whose hearts are broken today while yours is being filled.

If you lost your mother, please remember that God is near those with a broken heart. In fact, he intended for this loss to be a gain in disguise— a way for you to grow closer to Him through seeking Him for answers and comfort to your piercing pain. It’s ok to cry. And it’s perfectly normal to miss your mom. Just don’t forget to reach out to your mother’s creator, because I am sure He is eager to share some comfort and answers to life’s mysteries with you. Grow through life with a new level of strength and understanding of how fleeting and precious this time we have is.

So I celebrate with all the mom’s today— congratulations and keep up the good work. I also send out much love, hugs and comfort to those who are grieving today; my spirit grieves with you. Keep your head up and seek out the prize hidden within the pain.

I love you all and Jesus loves you and your mothers too ❤️
